With Abandon 02:46
I've been biding my time since I saw you I've been counting windows from the ground up Well, I've been tying my shoes with abandon I've been sleeping all day in the doorway Doorway Doorway And I've been running all night Well I've been running all night And maybe I'll hang clocks in the new house Well in that new house, I'll make the time I'm just trying to keep you in college Well in that new house, I'll find the time But I keep running all night Well I've been running all night Well I've been running all night I've been running all night But I keep running all night But I keep running all night But I keep running all night But I keep running all night

The Bug 03:26
I see the plot thicken over time Shape-shifter beholds us in its eyes And it don't breathe, it don't breathe It can't breathe It can't breathe, can’t breathe Oh it can’t breathe a word but has a life Yes it's alive, It's alive But it’s alive, It’s alive Whatever’s between us fills the space between the words It's following our footsteps from the centre of the earth Oh I'll be the bug this time, I don't mind crawling in the dirt I'm tunnelling through deserts, are you scanning for tremors? Never trust someone who never lies I know that I'm bad, some parasite But I can change, I can change I can change, I can change, can change Oh I can change those men right into mice When it's alive, It's alive It's alive, It's a lie Whatever’s between us fills the space between the words It's following our footsteps from the centre of the earth Oh I'll be the bug this time, I don't mind crawling in the dirt I'm tunnelling through deserts and I'm talking in tremors Sorry to disturb you, I know you start work at 8 I had no intention, I didn't mean to call so late I guess I thought I'd see you taking shelter at my gate Are you digging through the rubble or were you buried in the quake?
3.
Two Faced 03:45
I'll write your thoughts I'll spell this whole thing out Did I plant all those seeds? Did I grow all the trees in your brain? But if you talk to me, I'll pay And if you sell me scraps, I'll pay And it tears my whole life away But if you glue my feet, I'll stay That ghoul flew in I saw it for myself No I didn't touch your stuff I didn't touch your fucking stuff And if you talk to me, I'll pay And if you sell me scraps, I'll pay And it tears my whole life away But if you glue my feet, I'll stay Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh Ahhhhhhhhhhhh Ahhhhhhhhhhhh Ah Ah Ah Ah Ah Ah Ah Ah Ah Ah Ah Ah Ah Ah Ah Ah Ah Ah Ah Ah Ah Ah Ah Ah Ah Ah Ah Ah Ah Break both my noses Break both my noses Break both my noses Break both my noses And drag me through the town Chant my crimes out loud Toss me to the crowd Leave my on the ground

See the cage from a birds eye view The glass looks clear enough to fly through All the walls blur into sky blue And you peeled me off the sidewalk And you peeled me off the sidewalk And you peeled me off the sidewalk As I just lay Can't let you out of my sight What good is even beyond there? When glances speak louder than words And you peeled me off the sidewalk And you peeled me off the sidewalk And you peeled me off the sidewalk As I just lay And how come when you tell me that you wish that you could stay, You're already halfway to the car? No need to say you love me I can see it on your face But that only further breaks my heart The Gods are losing patience Anteros counts your misdeeds But I plea that you're only playing the part No matter what I tell them, well they say that they can't see How we've come a long way from the start
5.
Break all your clones, Two hearts to fix your own You say its slow It'll cut you through the bone But I already know But I already know I already know But I already know Move fast, lay wake Live wires run this place You say, “it's strange Everything goes away” But I want you to stay But I want you to stay I want you to stay But I want you to stay I want you to stay a while I hear these things, they stalk at night I hear these things, they take their time So I hope that you stay a while Same time, same place But you wore a new face You say, "it's strange, Everything goes away" But I want you to stay But I want you to stay I want you to stay But I want you to stay But I hope that you stay a while I hear these things, they stalk at night I hear these things, they take some time So I hope that you wait a while
6.
When I last saw you in that first floor apartment And you didn't want to crumble with the audience watching Through that window Through that glass door I threw out my grimoire, I tore out all the pages, Like you always insisted I was keen to resist it I've got nothing else on you I've got nothing else on you Yet you stay Slap my wrist with stiff pine You've loved me for such such long time How did I get so audacious as to ask for more You were my timepiece, oh yes you were my suitcase Like when you did the laundry The sheets hanging still haunt me They still fuckin haunt me And keep me warm And it's been such a long time Yes I take such a long time Takes me such a long time to look up I'd wink at the jury Watch the underlings scurry Shake hands with the commission Sell the monarch munitions Buy a condo that bores you Drop the bomb from my war room I'd do anything for you I'd do anything for you I'd do anything for you I'd do anything for you I'd do anything for you Anything for you I'd do anything for you I'd do anything for you I'd do anything for you

about

What weirdness lurks in the shadows of your brain? In its cluttered gutters and self-sabotaging alleyways? What sewer-dwelling reptilian is zapping its revenge across your synapses? Through fuzzed out riffs, impish vocals, and relentless pop earworms, Megamall examines these very questions on their debut EP, Escape from Lizard City.

Clocking in at just over 17 minutes, these six songs’ brevity belie their sagacity in an eclectic collection of alternative pop bops that careen between bombastic fits and jocular refrains.

Inspired by American novelist Tom Robbins’ concept of the reptilian brain, Escape from Lizard City is a deceptively sickly album full of unreliable narrators who embody many of those “bad” emotions that us “good” people try and keep our distance from: jealousy, resentment, possessiveness and good ol’ fashioned egomania.

Songwriter and lyricist, Alie Lynch, does a deep dive through her darkened thoughts, picking out some of the most maladaptive reactions and inflating them into life-sized caricatures ripe for examination.
